Down the Row

Oh, and didn’t it RAIN!

February 21st, 2012

In spite of the dire predictions from the climate center that we only had a 50/50 chance for a normal amount of rainfall, the winter months have been blessed with moisture at the vineyard.  For the first time since 2008, our surface ponds are FULL!

The ponds are our emergency water supply that we count on if we have well problems or low rainfall depletes the wells, so we’ve been working without a net for a long time now.  I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to have those ponds back.  I’m not sure if we’ll ever see the turtle population come back, but I’m sure we’ll see the ducks stop off on their migration.

Now, if we can just get all of the cold weather out of the way before budbreak!
